Project 365: 10 | Thai & Karaoke | 06.29.12
Project 365: 10 | Thai & Karaoke | 06.29.12
We celebrated a friend's birthday last night at a Thai restaurant that also has karaoke. We ate delicious food, sang and danced while a group of children sang a surprisingly good rendition of Party Rock Anthem.

I am just over a week through this Project 365 and Stella Kitty is already making her second appearance. She will probably make many more. No book (or laptop or iPad or...) is safe from her. This is our Tacos cookbook and at least this was after I picked out a recipe for dinner this upcoming week.

I was in Monterey for a conference this week and walked to Fisherman's Wharf for dinner with colleagues Wednesday night. Those ripples in the top right part of the water was a group of sea lions playing the entire time we ate. The food was almost as good as the view.

There are definitely worse places to be sent on a business trip and worse places to set up a mobile office.

I took this photo last night while waiting patiently for the sun to go down so we could watch Brave at our local drive-in.

Project 365: 2 | Skype | 06.21.12
One of my best childhood friends was born exactly one year and one day before me. We grew up across the street from each other and always celebrated each others' birthdays. As adults, we have continued to tradition of celebrating together -- meeting up for lunch sometime around our birthdays. A year ago, she and her husband and daughter moved out of state. This year I decided that we should at least set up a Skype date to catch up and wish each other a happy birthday face-to-face. This was actually my first time using Skype. (I'm a little behind the times, I know.) We had a nice, long conversation and about halfway through I asked her if I could take a photo for my Project 365.

Project 365: 1 | Birthday Mani | 06.20.12
I had a fabulous birthday yesterday. I spent the day relaxing which included getting a manicure and pedicure. (This was my first gel manicure and I don't think I could ever go back to a regular one.) My day was wrapped up with a delicious dinner with my honey and karaoke with friends. Perfect.

Project 365 for My 32nd Year
Two years ago, when I turned thirty, I decided to start a Project 365. I took at least one photo every day for the entire year and picked one to represent each day. 365 photos in 365 days. I posted them all here.
I decided that after a year hiatus, I am ready for another round. Today is my birthday (yay!) and officially day one of my second Project 365 project.
There are lots of wonderful things about doing a Project 365. During my first project, I found that it kept me much more present -- looking for the wonderful in the ordinary -- and I was more apt to seek out interesting experiences to capture.
In anticipation of this project, I recently got the back of my iPhone replaced to repair the scratched camera lens. The scratch on the lens made all of my photos look a little fuzzy/romantic. Like this:
Not horrible but annoying when I didn't want all my photos to look nostalgic. Now my photos look normal again! I even took a photo of the ground right after getting it fixed. That's how excited I was about it. See?
Crystal clear, right?!
In addition to my iPhone, I will also use my Canon Rebel T1i because it is one of my favorites.
My project will begin today and continue through June 19, 2013, the day before I turn thirty-three. I will post this project's photos here, at a minimum of once a week.
Want to do your own Project 365? First of all, I highly recommend you give it a try. Secondly, take a moment to read my tips here.

My Best Idea! (Video)
Soooooo...way back in July, I posted this: Lemon & Lime Ice Cubes.
Soon after, when everyone hopped on the 'pin all the things!' bandwagon, photos from my blog were popping up all up in my Pinterest feed.
It was weird.
Cool, but weird.
Fast forward to a couple months ago when I was contacted by an iVillage.com producer asking me if I would be interested in being part of one of their programs, My Best Idea.
My first thought? "I am grossly under qualified."
My second thought? "Um...sure!"
I filmed my piece in our kitchen one day after work (extremely glamorous, I know) and a few weeks later the final product was posted on their website. Look, it is right there!
